“By way of loss, by way of such vast and immeasurable experiences of loss, we are quite powerfully introduced to the whole.”
~Rainer Maria Rilke

Sometimes I feel discouraged
And deep I feel the pain
In prayers the holy spirit
Revives my soul again

There is a balm in Gilead
To make the wounded whole
There is a balm in Gilead
To heal the weary soul
          ~ traditional hymn

This past January 20, many in our larger Wisdom community joined together with a National Moment of Unity and Remembrance in honor and memory of those who have died from COVID.

…We have to resist becoming numb to the sorrow. We have to resist viewing each life as a statistic or a blur or on the news. We must do so to honor the dead, but equally important care for the living, those left behind, for the loved ones left behind.“To heal … To heal, we must remember.”
          ~ President Joe Biden, February 22, 2021

In light of our ongoing need to tend our grief and welcome others’ grief in these times, we wish to continue offering these circles once a month. May these circles provide a place for our community to hold all the forms that grief may take — personal loss of all types, planetary suffering, the deep pain of racist oppression, pandemic-related sickness and death, the loss of community rituals. Together we bring our wholeness to bear this grief.

I don’t have much knowledge yet in grief –
so this massive darkness makes me small.
You be the master: make yourself fierce, break in:
then your great transforming will happen to me,
and my great grief cry will happen to you.
          ~ Rainer Maria Rilke

In Wisdom practice circle style, we will offer a rhythm of chanting, sitting and embodied practice. Please feel free to light a candle, and bring your own bells or bowls for ringing if you like. All are welcome!

…That even as we grieved, we grew
That even as we hurt, we hoped
That even as we tired, we tried…
          ~ Amanda Gorman
