Entering the Bridal Chamber of the Heart: Exploring the Gospels of Thomas, Mary Magdalene, and Philip with Matthew Wright
Led By: The Rev. Matthew Wright
Suggested Donation: $90
Tuesday, 9 June – Thursday, 11 June 2020, 10am and 2pm daily on Zoom
This 3 day retreat will explore the Christian Wisdom tradition, focusing on the Gospels of Thomas, Mary Magdalene, and Philip. These Wisdom Gospels came to light in the mid-20th century and give us new insight into the development of early Christianity, the metaphysics undergirding Jesus’ teaching, and the apostolic authority of Mary Magdalene.
Taken together, they offer us a coherent and luminous map of the journey from timelessness into time, and finally into conscious union–a journey that unfolds within what Jesus calls “the bridal chamber” of the human heart. Come join us on the journey, as we chant, pray, and learn together.
A donation of $15/session ($90 for all six sessions) is suggested for this retreat, which you can offer at www.holycrossmonastery.com/donate or by sending a check payable to Holy Cross Monastery to P.O. Box 99, West Park, NY 12493. Please put “luminous gospels” in the memo line of your donation. No one will be required to donate in order to join the sessions.
