The Wisdom Jesus Retreat with Marcella Kraybill-Greggo, Matthew Wright

May 20-21, 2021

This Wisdom Retreat offers both teaching and practices on the content and themes of The Wisdom Jesus, as we travel together during these 50 thin days between Easter and Pentecost. In her book Cynthia Bourgeault describes Jesus as:

“First and foremost a wisdom teacher, a person who clearly emerges out of and works within an ancient tradition called “wisdom,” known sometimes as sophia perennis, which is in fact at the headwaters of all the great religious traditions of the world today. It’s concerned with the transformation of the whole human being. The key tool that we need to find and live the path today…this tool is our own power of inner recognition.” (p. 3, 4)

IN THIS WISDOM RETREAT we will co-create a container to slow our pace and intentionally cultivate this inner recognition through:

  • Teachings and group discussion centering around The Wisdom Jesus: Transforming Heart and Mind – A new Perspective on Christ and His Message by Cynthia Bourgeault
  • Mindful attentional practices/Inner Tasks
  • Meditation and Chant
  • Body movements and sacred gesture

This Wisdom Retreat is designed for seekers who want to cultivate a deeper connection with the Wisdom tradition which lies at the headwaters of all sacred paths. As we come together in community, seeking inspiration and practices for our awakening, we aim to leave with a felt sense of our deepening presence and how we can be of service in the world.

“I was a hidden treasure, and I loved to be known, and so I created the worlds both visible and invisible.” Both the saying itself and the understanding that illumines it derive from a profound mystical intuition that our created universe is a vast mirror, or ornament (and the Greek word “cosmos” literally means “an ornament”), through which divine potentiality—beautiful,  fathomless, endlessly creative—projects itself into form in order to realize fully the depths of divine love.”
